While we saw a number of international retailers expand their operations into the Mexican market in 2012, this year is shaping up to be equally exciting with new store openings. The most recent addition to the Mexican retail market was American Eagle Outfitters.
The Pittsburgh based chain will open 6 stores in Mexico in 2013, the first in Perisur, at the south end of Mexico City. American Eagle sees Mexico as an important part of their international expansion and plans on opening 50 stores throughout the country. CEO Robert Hanson, sees Mexico eventually representing 6% of sales.
