Last week, President Felipe Calderon visited Guadalajara to inaugurate the Digital City project. The project, which is estimated to bring in investments of $10 million USD, aims to attract entertainment, design and digital arts companies to the region. The Digital City will also create over 25,000 jobs.
Guadalajara is already a tech hub and is home to a number of multinationals like HP, Dell, Flextronics, and IBM. With federal government funding, the project hopes to attract the likes of Time Warner, Viacom, News Corp, The Walt Disney Company, and Sony. The addition of other creative agencies and entertainment companies will be a huge boost to Guadalajara’s economy and will help put Guadalajara on the map as a major player in the digital game.
